This will acknowledge receipt of your letter of 13 October 1999 regarding the Canadian Infantry Association’s resuming its participation in the Conference of Defence Associations.

Your letter was reviewed at a recent CIA executive meeting. Your willingness to agree to the conditions set out by our membership was appreciated. We reviewed the intent of the resolution regarding the CDA annual membership fee passed by the CDA executive last January 1999. We note it stipulates that an association is an active member only on payment of the annual membership fee. As such, payment of the membership fee does not commit CIA to providing CDA with financial support per se which was the concern identified by our membership.

Please accept this letter as formalization of our resumption in CDA and advise your secretary of the following CIA information:
